Leaving it all behind

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

One of the things i find interesting is how we are taught how to make profits and gains and i’ve nothing against it. But, have you ever thought why we were never taught to let go?

Sure it’s easy to say the spoils are for the victors and that when we have achived everything we set out for ourselves, we will be happy.

We’re faced with never ending complications in life, and ever so often we’re told to hold on, never let go, fight till your last breath, when the easiest and sometimes the best way to go.. is just to let go?

Ever been in a situation where you thought that maybe if you fought it better, or persisted abit longer, or if just held on longer, that everything will be over soon and things will get better?

I’m in no way condoning that everybody is better off being  a quitter, but sometimes we have to come to the realization that perhaps its time to take a step back in order to gain 5 steps forward.

Even more so if we were heading in the wrong direction to begin with.

The reason i reckon to be the cause of our hard headedness to push on comes from the voice within.. or rather our egos that will not bear to suffer the shame of being called a quitter. What’s worst than being called a quitter is that your own mind calls you a quitter right?

I read something interesting jsut the other day pertaining to this :
" think of your ego as your goofy best friend who lends moral support but doesn’t know anything "

And its worth noting that sometimes we rely on our gut feeling that we’re right, or the cause is worth fighting for and in the end we come to realize that we were wrong all the while.

In ending, please don’t be quitters by any means… but just be sure you’re heading in the right direction before being so darn hard headed that you ignore all the warning signs.

Maybe giving up could be the best thing that you ever did.

Dsc00050_1
I went for bon odori just the other week and it made me feel old.

Yes…Old

Why? you might ask. Well.. i haven’t seen so much lala mui and lala chai in one place since prangin mall, but then again, i’m not one who goes out often to prangin. It’s not so much the lala-ness but its the age group.

Dsc00084I din’t get many pictures from the place thought.
The pictures you see here are courtesy of K800i in night mode.

Dsc00079This 1… you only see the nice Municipal Building in the back ground.

Not much for detail on the k800.. until

## F L A S H ! ! ##

Dsc00080That’s the detail that was missing, 4 jokers + 1 taking the photo.

To the right bottom corner is the takoyaki i bought..
* sigh.. memories *

Dsc00087Went in time for the countdown of the fireworks.

Kinda good timing actually, and considering we also found a great parking just next to the council building.

Dsc00083_2We only got to take photos with 2 japanese girls…

Which turned out blur.. both of them..

SONY ERICSSON CYBER SHOT kononnya..

Haha not entirely a wasted evening, but could have been better eh. Takoyaki takoyaki~~

Dun watch ‘ hee tai lok’ movie k?

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

Watched ‘ Surf’s up ‘ on my pc just this afternoon… Basically a feel good movie but the whole animated animals genre is overkill la.

Watching cinema versions of movies have loads of drawbacks… such as :

  • Lousy sound
  • Grainy pictures
  • Senget pictures
  • People standing up
  • Coughing sounds

But the absolute worst is when the most.. and i mean the MOST, kan cheong part when the hero comes out to save the noobie.. what happens??

THE SCREEN TURNS BLACK!!

So actually i don’t know how Z saves Cody… i just hear audio but no visual. Me thinks the security guard was patrolling the aisles and the pirate had to hide the vid cam..

sien nia.. say TAK NAK to hee tai lok movies k??

One of the things that amuses me is the fact that when an attendance sheet is passed around, there will be people that just have to look for their friends signatures or even some other names rather than just sign the sheet and pass it round.

Why do people do this har? Really dunno la..

Then when the class ends, there will still be students who haven’t signed because the sheet never reached their place. So i really have to ask the question… what’s so interesting about looking at other people’s names or even their signature?

If you are one of the poeple who do this, or has done this. Please please tell me why.. im so curious

How was your 7.7.7 ?

Mine was a mixed bag of ups and downs. Not being a real believer in that certain dates hold more meaning than others… after all God made everyday didn’t He ;)

At 1220, i caught Die Hard 4.0 at gurney. The show was action packed, but the seats that i got left much to be desired. It wasn’t really that i was seated very near the screen but rather 4 row from behind, and i still found it overwhelming for my eyes to capture in full detail everything that went on.

The show finished at almost 3 and then we decided ( a few friends from uni ) to go for a little drink at subaidah. The thing about going to subaidah at 3 is that you happend to meet some interesting characters like the mat rempits.. or maybe a gang of people that just watched the same show in the same theatre as you did =.=

But all things considered, i had a footie match at 845 the following morning ( which got canceled but i wasn’t informed :(( chia lat ) I did make it all the way to the field, but since it was called off, i headed for Chit Teow Lor Ban San ( litterally 7th road market ) and had a sip of hot coffee and a steaming bowl of famous  Duck Koay Teow Th’ng.

And all these happened before 12pm..

( The rest.. i’m just too tired to write :p )

Now, how many of you have watched Transformers d?

I can easily say any guy that goes in there to watch will be satisfied, if not wetting his pants from the sight of bumblebee transforming. Yes.. its THAT good.

I won’t give much spoilers but it did strike me " if he could take the form of any car, why did he choose this lousy camaro ?" ( loosely paraphrased )

Ya lor hor… If you were from a superior race of aliens landing on earth that took the form of and vehicle you view… why choose a humvee? or a pontiac solstice? or a GMC pickup?
On 1 hand, i do agree with the new camaro.. nice.
But Pontiac solstice?? Why couldn’t they have landed in front of a Porshe Carrera GT?
GMC pickup?? a Volvo XC 90 perhaps?

Of course those transformers purist will be all over me demanding for my head on a platter for suggesting such ridiculous ideas. By now you can realize either i’m  pro-conti cars or the show is plainly pro-American ( or maybe they’re all product placements ) but i actually wouldn’t mind if they took the shape of a Dodge SRT 10 eh.

But the reason why this show is a boy’s wet dream come true is not because of the the super hawt looking Megan Fox,the cars, or the robots… but its the cars that TRANSFORM into robots.. how cooler does it get huh.. ( ok..by this point some women would have been resigned to the fact that don’t get it… and maybe never will :P )

Love the show.. love it to bits, thank goodness no more sloppy love scenes ala Per Haber from Mike Bay.. love the cars, could have more European Styling ( maybe a prancing horse would be cool ? ) love the Big Bad truck @ Prime…

For a show of this much anticipation, it surpasses the expectations of many.. and hey.. if all else fails they included some eye candy (Josh Duhamel) for those ladies who had to accompany their guy friends which unfortunately have turn into a prepubescent little boy who just wet his pants… =)
