Hokkien kua

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

I love hokkien kuas…. dunno why.. there’s just something about them that is so funny.. especially those you hear during weddings.

Amidst the ‘ yam sengs’ and the stouts, wedding dinners aren’t really complete without the K-singing right?

So 1 of my neighbors is getting married tomorrow morning, and tonight has just been filled with the most ridiculous amount of hokkien/malay/Chinese songs in a K marathon.

From the friends to the aunty ( my neighbor ) , all had a go at singing their hearts out to hits such as ’seribu rindu’  to ‘ lai peng you’

Ok so maybe i made the ‘ seribu rindu’ song title… but the ‘ lai peng you’ is a real song.. assuming that really is the title la..

It goes somthing like ‘ lai peng you gan chi poey, gan chi poey…. ‘

*Swt* ok… so maybe you have no clue as to what i’m singing….

Trust?

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Sometimes i wonder what it takes for you to gain someones trust. I suppose sometimes its not so much gaining trust as it is about receiving it .

Hands
Sometimes it just means that there’s nothing that you could have done more to make that someone trust you…

Perhaps its just as well that we never find out the reason why people trust us cause the way i see it, its better off to believe that they trust us as a whole, because of our abilities, our faults and just fundamentally who we are. No need of any justification nor vindication. In simple terms its just about faith, i guess

Mount R

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

This very afternoon i accomplished something i didn’t think was possible for me any more.

After all, I’ve already gotten on with age and with a gut the size of a kuali.. this isn’t something someone with my condition should attempt.

Throwing caution to the wind, i rang up a friend to accompany me on this mission of epic proportions..

We reached the base at approx 3pm.. knowing there’s no turning back now.. pushing on towards the goal, we ventured near.

A nice place this was, tunes of the east were playing ( and by east, i actually mean west… confusing no? ), air conditioned

No menu was offered nor needed as the gentleman behind the counter approached our table and just said " you’ll be served shortly"

Wow… this place is great, no need for menu 1… food just comes..

A banana leaf each, a selection of vegetables ( potatoes..and something else )
Followed by a selection of main course ( chicken, fish or mutton )

THEN came the impossible… the rice.. the rice… and the rice..
1 scoop…2…. 3?!!!
Wow…3 scoops of rice i had..
So maybe you’re thinking " 3 scoop only merrrr"

1 scoop is equal to 1 bowl of rice !!!

I was facing a mountain of rice splashed with curry and flowing down like lava on the helpless villagers ( the vege ). Next to it was the fish and next to it was the papadam..

15 mins later, im stuffed… but still pondering on a bowl of Pg rd cendol..

Not because i wasn’t full… i was prolly 120% … but outside was soooo hot.. swt

Rainy days

Monday, June 18th, 2007

There’s just something about rainy days that i love..

Nice weather to sleep in under the extra thick blanket, or maybe enjoying the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling room, listening to the radio cranking out old hits..

Hmm.. I’m hungry… gotta go look for food… or maybe coffee.. or maybe a warm thick blanket+

The Pursuit..

3 words.

MANLIEST

SHOW

EVER.

If you’ve ever wondered what makes a manly man, let me tell you.

It isn’t having the biggest biceps, nor the hottest chick around your arm, nor the Carrera GT in your garage, neither the bank balance of a small developing country.

It’s about responsibility.

And having it in spades.

Not only to yourself but to all those that depend on you.
Have you ever thought of how much your dad has to put up with just to keep that bread on the table?
Pay the bills so you can go online and blog?
Pay for the paper you use when you finish a ‘deposit’ ?

Imagine how much pressure he is in to keep a straight face when the chips are not in his favor, when life deals him a bad hand, so to speak. He has to take it all on the chin and just tell you everything will be alright even when he’s not even sure himself.

I’ll leave with this quote :

" A strong man stands for himself,
A stronger man stands up for others "

Just finished watching TTYD…
At first i thought Guy Patterson ( drummer) was Tom Hanks…
but he wasn’t..

The soundtrack is good.. i suppose.. funny la.. seeing all the people in the 60’s era with their hair and clothes.
Makes me wonder how my generation will be remembered by. hmm..

At any rate, Liv looks every much the elven princess she is in this movie. Anyone with that much talent as Jimmy must have realized he was losing her.. right??

But it was ok cos the hero got her in the end =)

( Ok.. no spoiler warnings earlier .. cos by now only a katak like me would not have watched this show )
